The great Salt Lake!

Did you know you can float! Really this is Brooke floating. And It is WARM!
This is us who didn't go in the water, well, those of us who didn't STAY in the water. Rebecca and Sarah did go in for a little while. I not so much nor Kimberly. But what you don't see is that the ground is COVERED in little flies. I mean COVERED. Sarah was NOT fond of this fact and cried the whole time she was sitting there.
This is up at the visitor's center.
This is Autumn floating. The water is over her head deep. She could also float sitting up, but was to hard to stay that way.
Antelope Island where we went is also called buffalo island, where they let buffalo graze. And have these metal buffalo all over the island.
We were able to go to the great Salt Lake. It was an experience!

That time of year! School

School time is always bittersweet. But without further adue, here are their first day picts.
Autumn going into 7th grade. So cute! Autumn comes home exhausted at the end of the day. She is in Jr. High and still on the shorter side, unluckly, so she has a hard time seeing where she's going when the whole school is in the hallways. But is taking french and is very excited about that!
Spencer going into 1st grade. I love his pants, I had to talk him into letting me buy them for him, he doesn't care about style. He knows his teacher's name, and thinks school is fun! Last year he never got the teachers name down correctly. His mom is excited!
Brooke is going into 5th grade. She has a snake as a class pet. She isn't so sure about it. And ALL things written in class, or handed in as homework has to be made in cursive. She is NOT excited for that at all! But does love school

Things I'm learning about Kimberly

She smiles A LOT
She love to have her hands up by her face
She makes soothing happy sounds when she's happy.
She is more awake lately
she can sleep through all the noise our family is
Her eyes are clearing up
she can focus on me for a long time.
She does not like to be patted on her bum repetatively, it' make her jerk

I'm a super softy!

I don't know if it's a good thing or not. But I am definitely treating my 5th child WAY different than my first. my husband commented the other night that not only is she spoiled by me but also the other kids in the family. She cries longer in her bed at nap time, because every one goes in there and tries to console her, not a good practice, but when she is so darn cute it is so darn hard to not go and hug her and have her snuggle into my neck as you are saving her from uncertain terrible fate. . . . a nap.

Last night I even let her sleep in my room on my couch, because she would wake up in the nite and cry and I didn't want to trek all the way across the hall and pick her up. Instead just 1 step to my couch.

I still feed her the majority of her meals. She's 1 1/2 and still gets spoon fed. Oh, my, I'm just saying out loud, I know she's spoiled, but really how much can it REALLY hurt. She will grow up soon enough. It's not only me, her daddy is her first word when she wants to get out of something like throwing her diaper away, and he swoops her up and carries her and the diaper to the garbage. She's got us all to her beck-and-call! That's not so bad is it?

This post's for Mark

I haven't blogged in a decade it seems.

But yesterday as we were walking into a building he said, this is something to blog about or no one would believe we came here.

So, where did we go you ask?

I'll start at the beginning.

I have been a closet Utah Jazz fan for over a decade! I will watch a game if it's on and no one else is too terribly interested in another tv show. Which is rarely. The other night Mark came into the room while I was watching a particularly sad game . . . when they played against the Lakers. It was their first loss in 8 games. He sat down and watched a little while. He couldn't help but tease and talk as if he'd never seen a basketball game EVER! So, I'll talked to him a little about the whole "game".

Then I tell him in a different life I would LOVE to be a referee for a high pressure game. (I use to ref. for college games on the side while I was going to college, nothing big or anything). He couldn't believe that.

So the next day, he calls me from work laughing, couldn't get out the sentence he was laughing so much. Finally asks me if I want to go to a BYU basketball game. I said with who? I was sure it wasn't with him. Afterall, he is NOT a sports guy. He said him of course. As my valentine gift. I said of course. . . . he then says where do you want to sit? I promptly said NOT in the student section, I don't want to have to paint my face blue and stand and cheer the whole game. Suprised I had any clue what that all meant, he bought the tickets.

So, Sat night. we walk into the Marriot center for the basketball game. I loved every minute of it. Even Mark saying "what just happened" a couple of times and "why is everyone cheering" a few other times. it was great.

like Mark says no one would believe I got my wife basketball tickets for valentine's day. It was a great game, I forgot how much I love a live game, and being able to watch all the dynamics they don't capture on the tv.

A great Valentine's day gift overall!

What do you think my chances of going to an actual Jazz game is? I think I would be shaking the whole first half!

Rebecca's adventure

Little Rebecca broke her arm. . . This is them taking her x-rays.

This is her ATTITUDE lately. First the picture is of the outfits I made the kids for Christmas at church, and well, Whenever Rebecca doesn't want something lately she is GRUMPY, the broken arm just pushed her grumpiness over the edge!

This is her right after she got her cast put on.

These are the x-rays of her arm she broke.

Thanksgiving pt. 3

They dug a hole the same depth as Sarah is tall. This is a half way pict.

There was a BEAUTIFUL sunset! I loved seeing a good sunset in a LONG time! We live in the mountains so I don't get to see one very often.

Finding Topaz in the rocks.

Building a fire for the mini campers.

Drinking hot cocoa by the fire.

Thanksgiving pt. 2

We were camping IN-THE-MIDDLE-OF-NOWHERE! We didn't see another person in 50 miles! Mark feels the upside was. . . he could test out all his newest contraptions that he is working on.

Brooke had her mini camping trip and took probably 30 pictures of the friends. She had her barbies do EVERYTHING. Eat, cook marshmellows, build a campfire. All of it!
This is another picture of the hotsprings. it was really fun.

Us driving in the middle of nowhere looking for Topaz mountain. Like it was a desert and FLAT! It was really fun. I loved being just our family.

After it got dark, we started singing Christmas carols together. Autumn the ever organizer, keeping us on track for whatever we do. Keeping lists.

our Thanksgiving at Topaz Mtn.

We stopped at a hotsprings. It was soooo HOOOT! But we were so cold, so it was great!

This is Rebecca trying to wake up. She didn't sleep the best. . . none of use did, man it was COLD, and all 3 of our heating systems failed. We did make it through, not my favorite camping night, but it was FUUUN other than that.

Rebeccca feeling much better.

Autumn not wanting me to take her picture because she didn't have her hair done. . . As beautiful as can be!

Brooke was having a GREAT time. she found Topaz in the rocks. . . and had a great time outside the whole time!
